| Chennai, Jul. 23. The members of the executive councils of the various organs of the Salesian family in the Province of Chennai met at Citadel on 11th July (Sunday) 2010, at 11.00 a.m. for their second annual Joint Council Meeting of the Salesian Family. |

Rev. Fr. Joe Andrew, the Vice Provincial invited the gathered members to observe a minute of silence for the Salesians and Salesian family members who passed away recently. Mrs. Jacqueline, read a short passage from the Bible and Fr. Deva Joe read an article from the Constitutions after which Sr. Amali Devarajan FMA, led the group into a short moment of prayer. Fr. Joe Andrew welcomed the members present and introduced the agenda of the day.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Swamikannu, the Provincial extended a warm welcome to everyone. The Superiors and representatives presented in brief their plans and priorities for the year. There followed a sharing towards a common platform for youth work and suggestions for celebrating the Coming of the Urn of Don Bosco.
Finally, Fr. Stanislaus Swamikannu recommended to the members the importance of getting to know the recent guidelines from the Indian Government through RTE and RTI. We as educators need to study and implement the positive elements in the RTE and also find ways and means of fighting for our rights.
Fr. Joe Andrew informed that the recent letter of the Rector Major is on the topic of Youth Ministry and that the copies are available for study and implementation in the respective congregation.
The meeting was a fitting beginning of a year which looks forward to much collaboration among the members, as we celebrate the year of youth, keeping with the invitation of the TNBC and the UN.
